Nikka Whisky was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, a pioneer of Japanese whisky who acquired his skills in Scotland. The distillery combines traditional Scottish methods with Japanese craftsmanship to produce whiskies of exceptional quality. Nikka operates two main distilleries: Yoichi on Hokkaido, known for bold, peaty whiskies, and Miyagikyo on Honshu, which produces lighter, fruity notes.

Nikka's product range includes both single malts and blended whiskies, including the popular " Nikka Yoichi ," which is prized for its complexity and depth. The use of Coffey stills allows for the production of grain whiskies with a smooth, sweet profile.
