The Fasssprache Tasting Set is more than a tasting; it's an experiment, a journey of discovery, a look behind the scenes of the art of aroma creation. Daring delves into the question of how different types of wood can shape the character of a rum. Not with theories, but with 16 concrete answers in liquid form.

The starting point: a three-year-old Trinidadian rum, matured under the Caribbean sun. Fine, clear, unadulterated. Then the real journey begins: the same spirit is further aged for six months in 15 different new wooden barrels. No pre-aging, no blending, no marketing gimmick, just honest wood, medium toasted, under the same conditions.

Included are classics like American and French oak, but also truly exotic varieties: mulberry, Carpathian oak, acacia, and mizunara. Each sample tells a different barrel story, from creamy vanilla to dry tannins, from floral notes to deep nuttiness. And yes, there are favorites. But every palate decides differently.
